    COVID-19 Enforcement and Penalties for Business

    Businesses face fines and penalties from local and state governments for not complying with regulations when reopening (and potentially shutting down again if cases continue to rise). While some states such as Alabama do not have penalties for businesses, others such as California have both confusing and complex statewide and local penalties that vary from city to city.

    Ventilation in the Workplace

    While scientists are still working to understand the role and mechanisms of airborne transmission of COVID-19, it is largely agreed that insufficient ventilation increases the risk of transmission.  Yet ventilation is largely absent from the guidance provided by federal, state, and local governments for how businesses can open up in ways that are as safe as possible for their employees, customers, and communities.
